Listening Prayer (Silence)
Reverend Hule Goddard, rector of the Wilmore Anglican Mission church, will be the primary leader of Listening Prayer, however, other prayer leaders will fill in when he is not available. Usually we think of prayer as talking to God, but this set is dedicated to quieting ourselves so as to listen to God. As Ecclesiastes 5:2 so eloquently states, “Do not be quick with your mouth, do not be hasty in your heart to utter anything before God. God is in heaven and you are on earth, so let your words be few” (NIV). The Listening Prayer set will be guided and will consist of periods of silence. The underlying premise of our Listening Prayer set is this: God is worth listening to more than any of the other noise that fills our lives and days. “The Lord is in His holy temple; let all the earth be silent before Him” (NIV, Hab. 2:20).
